2019, what a year!
From inspirational journeys and a fabulous fundraising event to new faces at TENT and some very exciting new partnerships, we feel like we’ve got a lot to look back fondly on. Here are a few of our highlights from the year:
Welcoming Duncan & Isabel
Two new faces joined the team at TENT HQ, hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since.
Introducing Salviamo l’Orso
TENT joined forces with Italian bear conservation organisation Salviamo l’Orso, working in the Apennine Mountains of the Abruzzo National Park.
A party with purpose
150 of you joined us by the River Thames for a quintessentially British summer’s afternoon. With a spectacular performance from friend of TENT Havasi, and an unforgettable auction that helped us to raise over £100,000 for European Conservation.
Running for wilderness
The amazing (if slightly mad!) Fred Chapman ran 118.7 miles – 5 marathons in 7 days – to raise money for TENT. An incredible achievement!
TENT becomes a Natural Climate Solutions ally
The environmental and climate crisis campaign group started by George Monbiot is creating a network of “allies”) companies, charities and initiatives) as part of a growing movement supporting natural climate solutions to the crisis.
In June, 9 brave cyclists took to the saddle to endure a gruelling but successful 100-mile cycle from the East to the West Coast of Scotland, all in aid of Scottish conservation initiatives.
A new partnership with Samsung
TENT embarked on an exciting new partnership with Samsung. We’re very much looking forward to working together and developing our relationship for the benefit of European conservation.
Partnering with the CBD Habitat Foundation
TENT’s Founder Paul Lister took a trip to Southern Spain where he met with leaders of the CBD Habitat Foundation, a conservation organisation working to save the Iberian lynx. TENT is hosting a film screening next May to raise money for the organisation, buy tickets here.
Speaking at the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce
TENT’s Director Duncan presented to an audience at the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce. There was a lot of fantastic feedback from the engaged audience, with many wanting to know how they could get involved and spread the word about TENT.
The Marsican bear meets the Cantabrian bear
Thanks to TENT the team from Salviamo l’Orso took a field trip to Asturias to meet with the Fundacion Oso Pardo team and discuss all things relating to bear conservation.
Partnering with HearO speakers
TENT partnered with HearO speakers, a company who upcycle disused tennis balls turning them into music speakers. Buy one from here and you can make a donation to TENT!
Speaking on the panel in partnership with IGO Adventures
Duncan took to the stage again, speaking on a panel at an event put on by IGO Adventures discussing how we can travel sustainably and with purpose. The Q&A went on for a long time so we reckon the talk went down well!
A little note from us…
All of this points towards a very successful year at TENT, but none of it would’ve been possible with out the ongoing and unwavering support of everyone within our network. We are incredibly grateful to friends of TENT, party guests for buying tickets, auction winners for making generous pledges, trip guests for joining us in connecting to nature. We are most thankful to the people on the ground, without whose hard work and drive we wouldn’t have any of the wildlife and wilderness which we are so passionate about restoring.
To you all, thank you and a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year from us all at TENT HQ!
