Portugal's Ecological Utopia

Last year, TENT funded the development of two more episodes of ‘The WILD with Chris Morgan’. First up Chris travels to the remote north east corner of Portugal to learn more about the visionary work of Rewilding Portugal – a young, driven organisation working to restore natural processes and wildlife corridors. In the Côa Valley, the dense old forests that were there are now mostly gone. Cut down and replaced with pastures for sheep and olive groves generations go. Now the shepherds and other farmers are abandoning this region in droves. This checkered history has led to a poor economy, brush instead of trees and an explosion of wildfires. Join Chris in this episode of ‘The WILD’ as he meets the visionary Rewilding Portugal team.
